On 13 September 2026, the Crustacean and Molluscan Fisheries (Vessel Specification) Byelaw 2024 (enclosed) was confirmed by the Fisheries Minister. This means the byelaw comes into force immediately.

The byelaw states that a person must not use a vessel in the District to fish for crustacean species using a pot or net, where:
(a) the overall length of a mono-hull vessel exceeds 12 metres;
(b) the overall length of a multi-hull vessel exceeds 10 metres; or
(c) the volume of any vivier tank or combination of vivier tanks exceeds a total of 2 cubic metres.
This byelaw coming into force means that any subsequent fishing by an affected vessel for specified crustaceans using pots or nets, must take place outside the Cornwall IFCA district.
Please be aware that affected vessels have a grace period up until 26 September 2026 in which they may remove any pots or nets from the district.
